The official draw for the 2024/25 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League Group Stage has set the stage for an exciting phase in Africa’s top club competition.
Africa’s most successful club and current champions, Al Ahly SC of Egypt, with 12 titles, headline Group C, one of the toughest groups in the competition.
They are joined by Algeria’s CR Belouizdad, former champions Orlando Pirates from South Africa, and Stade D’Abidjan, who are making their first-ever group stage appearance.
Interestingly, all six of CAF’s Zonal Unions are represented in this season’s Group Stage, showcasing the continued growth of African football across the continent.
Five-time champions TP Mazembe lead Group A, facing off against Tanzania’s Young Africans, Al Hilal of Sudan, and Algeria’s MC Alger.
In Group B, 2016 champions Mamelodi Sundowns aim for their second title, contending with three-time champions Raja Casablanca, fellow Moroccan side AS FAR, and DR Congo’s Maniema Union FC, who are making their Group Stage debut.
Group D features last season’s runners-up, ES Tunis, alongside the ambitious Pyramids FC from Egypt, as well as debutants GD Segrada Esperanca from Angola and Djoliba AC from Mali.
The group stages will take place between November 2024 and January 2025.
