African Clubs Ready for Action as TotalEnergies CAF Champions League Advances to the Second Preliminary Stage

The TotalEnergies CAF Champions League action returns on Friday with the thrilling second and final round of group stage qualifiers across the continent. This round, featuring home and away matches, will see prominent African clubs vying for a coveted spot in the group stages.

Reigning champions Al Ahly, along with former champions ES Tunis, Raja AC, Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, TP Mazembe, and other football giants will be in action this weekend, promising exciting matchups.

The action kicks off in Nigeria on Friday afternoon when Enugu Rangers host Angola’s Sagrada Esperanca at 14:00 UTC. Later, a North African clash will see US Monastir welcome Algeria’s MC Alger in a late Friday evening showdown.

On Saturday, five-time African champions TP Mazembe travel to Zambia to face Red Arrows in Lusaka, while Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy will aim to replicate last season’s upset over Orlando Pirates when they host the South Africans in Gaborone.

Later on Saturday, Pyramids FC, fresh off an impressive performance last season, will look to build on that momentum as they travel to Rwanda to take on APR FC.

Sunday will see defending champions Al Ahly kick off their title defense against Gor Mahia away from home, while last season’s finalists ES Tunis face Dekedaha FC of Somalia in another away fixture.
