Champions Zamalek Set for Showdown with Enyimba, Sfaxien to Battle Constantine and Simba

The 2024/25 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup group stage is set to deliver exciting matchups after defending champions Zamalek SC were drawn alongside Nigerian powerhouse Enyimba in Group D. The draw, conducted on Monday, has placed several former champions, including USM Alger, Zamalek SC, and RS Berkane, in competitive groups, heightening anticipation for fierce battles ahead.

Zamalek, one of Africa’s most decorated clubs, finds itself in a tough Group D. The Egyptian giants are not only set to clash with Enyimba, who have a strong continental reputation, but also face fellow Egyptian side Al Masry.

Rounding out the group is Mozambique’s Black Bulls, making Group D one of the most intriguing of the competition. Zamalek will be aiming to defend their title and extend their illustrious record in African football, but their group promises no easy path.

In Group B, former champions RS Berkane from Morocco are drawn alongside Mali’s Stade Malien, Angola’s CD Lunda Sul, and South African newcomers Stellenbosch. RS Berkane, a two-time Confederation Cup winner, are the favorites to advance, but the group presents some intriguing possibilities.

Stade Malien, with their rich history in continental competitions, will look to challenge for top honors, while Stellenbosch, making their debut in the tournament, aim to make a bold statement in their first African campaign.

Elsewhere, USM Alger leads Group C, while Group A has been dubbed the “Group of Death,” featuring Tanzanian giants Simba SC, Tunisia’s CS Sfaxien, and Algeria’s CS Constantine.

Below are the groups for the 2024/25 CAF Confederation Cup:
