PSL Round-Up: Arthur Zwane & Vusumuzi Vilakazi Secure First Win for AmaZulu, Sekhukhune United Close in on Mamelodi Sundowns!

 

Local league action heated up on Tuesday evening as Usuthu and Babina Noko clinched all three points.

Sekhukhune United hosted Richards Bay at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium, while AmaZulu faced an in-form Chippa United at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

On Wednesday, struggling Golden Arrows will take on SuperSport United at Mpumalanga Stadium, and Royal AM will clash with Polokwane City at Harry Gwala Stadium.

Wrapping up the midweek fixtures, Stellenbosch FC and Marumo Gallants will battle it out at the DHL Stadium on Thursday evening.

AmaZulu Triumph Over Chippa United!
Arthur Zwane and Vusumuzi Vilakazi secured their first victory for AmaZulu with a crucial 2-0 win over a red-hot Chippa United.

Hendrick Ekstein kicked off the scoring for Usuthu in the 26th minute, followed by Celimpilo Ngema’s goal just ten minutes before halftime.

Despite finishing with ten men after Abbubaker Mobara’s stoppage-time red card, AmaZulu held their lead. This first win of the season lifts them to 15th place, pushing TS Galaxy down to 16th after their defeat to Orlando Pirates.

 

 

Sekhukhune United Down Richards Bay!
Sekhukhune United capitalized on their home-ground advantage, defeating Richards Bay 2-0 at Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Siphesihle Mkhize netted his first goal for Babina Noko in the 71st minute, and Mamelodi Sundowns loanee Sipho Mbule sealed the victory with a goal in the 90th minute.

Richards Bay’s Yanela Mbuthuma was shown a red card just eight minutes before the final whistle. With this win, Babina Noko climbed to third in the PSL standings, while the Natal Rich Boys now sit in 13th place.
